It has been a long break between Round 2 (Mallala) and Round 3 of the Kerrick Sports Sedan Series, with drivers admitting to withdrawal symptoms, so the teams are keen to hit the track and resume battle at Queensland Raceway this weekend.

This round is being run in conjunction with a bumper Round 6 of the Shannons Australian Motor Racing Nationals. The Shannons Nationals return to QR is being billed as one of the largest national race meetings to be held at the circuit – with a record breaking eight national level race categories and more than 150 competitors set to race across the three days (and Saturday night).

Series leader Kerry Baily (Aston Martin) will be looking for his first round win of the 2013 series. Baily is yet to win this year but has consistently placed on the podium at the opening two rounds at Sydney Motorsport Park and Mallala Motorsport Park.

Tony Ricciardello (Alfa Romeo/Chev) will resume battle arch rival Darren Hossack (Audi/Chev). Last year the round at QR was epic, with Ricciardello and Hossack swapping race wins and positions numerous times in all three races. Hossack held out for a narrow round win.

Hossack has had an uncharacteristically bad start to the year and is well down in the Championship standings, so he will be looking for a dramatic change of form at Round 3.

Round 2 Mallala winner Jeff Barnes (Pontiac) will be looking to continue his dream start to the year at his home track.

With one of the biggest grids of nationals level Sports Sedans seen for a long time, the 18 car entry includes a 100% roll up of the Series Entrants, plus three locals joining in with Queenslanders Shane Hart (Mazda RX7), Bobby Ervin (Mazda RX7) and Gary Aston (Commodore) all expected to be competitive on home territory.
