The growth of the Kerrick Sports Sedan Series will continue at Queensland Raceway this weekend with no less than 18 of the ‘gods of thunder’ set to descend on the Ipswich facility for the third round of 2015 (August 7-9).

The field is amongst the biggest enjoyed in recent years by the Series which is growing from strength to strength. In just two rounds of racing, this year the Series has already appeared in support of the V8 Supercars at Winton Motor Raceway, hosted appearances by current and former V8 Supercar racers including Paul Morris and Jack Perkins, and seen its reigning champion Tony Ricciardello recognised by the Guinness World Records for his success in the category.

Fifty-two year old Stuart Inwood of Georges Plains in New South Wales will be one of the 18 on-track later this week for what is round three of this year’s championship, fielding his 2000 C5 Corvette as a State of Origin contestant.

The SOO concept allows competitors to enter in two events of the national Kerrick Sports Sedan Series, including one of which must be in their ‘home state.’ Inwood also plans to compete in the Wakefield Park round to be held across October 16-18).

“We purchased the C5 from New Zealand in May of 2014 and competed in both the Summer and Winter GT1 Series with great success,” said Inwood, the 2012 NSW Sports Sedan Champion who is also a scrutineer for AASA and MRA and has been involved in rallying, speedway, hillclimbs and time attack-style racing in the past.

“I am really looking forward to taking part now in the Kerrick Sports Sedan Series, both in Queensland this weekend and hopefully at Wakefield Park in October.

“In 2011 I came away with a round win at QR in a Falcon after a busy fault-finding weekend, so hopefully this weekend can be less complicated but with good results – we are aiming for a top ten result with hopefully no damage and good driving standards for everyone.”

The Kerrick Sports Sedan Series action at Queensland Raceway kicks off with unofficial practice on Friday 7 August, ahead of qualifying and race one on Saturday 8 August, and two races on Sunday 9 August. For further event information, please go to http://bit.ly/1SQhJT8

The Kerrick Sports Sedan Series is one of the most exciting on the annual Shannons Australian Motor Racing Nationals calendar, pitting a range of ‘wild and winged’ modified sports sedans and trans-ams against each other. Part of The Nationals since its inception in 2006, the Kerrick Sports Sedans represent the fastest tin-tops in Australia and in some cases, the fastest outright cars on a number of national circuits. In 2015, the Kerrick Sports Sedan Series will contest five national circuit racing events across four states:

  • Round One – 27-29 March, Sandown Raceway
  • Round Two – 15-17 May, Winton Motor Raceway
  • Round Three – 7-9 August, Queensland Raceway
  • Round Four – 16-18 October, Wakefield Park
  • Round Five – 13-15 November, Sydney Motorsport Park
